Boys to Men Teams Up With Middle School
The Boys to Men Mentoring Network has created a Boys to Men Club inside a San Diego Middle School. In early September, Boys To Men co-founder Joe Sigurdson approached Spring Valley Middle School to gauge their interested in creating a Boys to Men community inside the school. Sigurdson met with the school's 8th grade boy's counselor Bruce Crenshaw and outlined the Boys to Men program. This opened the door to a meeting with the school's principal and a follow-up presentation to the school board. The presentation was well received and approved, resulting in a Boys to Men Club being created inside Spring Valley Middle School.

New Study Reveals Sources of Resilience and Strength for Black Girls in New York City Black Girls Face Hardships and Challenges
A new and unique report, Black Girls in New York City: Untold Strength and Resilience, was released by the Black Women for Black Girls Giving Circle (BWBG), a funding initiative of The Twenty-First Century Foundation, and the Institute for Women's Policy Research (IWPR). A key finding in the report is that the impact of poverty is especially acute in the lives of Black girls. Approximately three-quarters of the girls in the study live in low-income communities and households.
